Fractional Support: The Smart Alternative to Traditional Hiring
What if the best person for the job never has to set foot in your office?
The traditional 9-to-5 employment model is evolving.
There is a growing list of companies that are starting to recognize and catch up to what some other forward-thinking businesses already know: fractional support delivers specialized expertise without the overhead, commitment, and costs of full-time hiring. Today, specialized expertise is available on demand, delivered remotely, and structured around what your business actually needs. That's the power of fractional support.
The workforce has already shifted
And the numbers tell the story.
Globally: there are now approximately 1.57 billion freelancers worldwide, representing 46.6% of the global workforce. That number has grown from 1.1 billion in 2020, reflecting a 17% compound annual growth rate projected through 2029. This isn't a trend, it's an evolution.
North America: over 76.4 million Americans now freelance, representing 38% of the US workforce, with projections reaching 86.5 million by 2027. Freelancers contributed $1.27 trillion to the US economy in 2024 alone.
In Canada: Statistics Canada reported nearly 2.7 million self-employed Canadians in 2023 (13.2% of the employed population), with gig work participation growing steadily from under 6% in 2005 to over 8% by 2016 and continuing to climb. Canada is projected to register the highest freelance platform growth rate in North America through 2033.
The market supporting this workforce is expanding just as fast. The North American freelance platforms market generated $1.93 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $5.7 billion by 2033. That's a 14.7% compound annual growth rate. Companies aren't just adapting to this shift, they're embracing it. At 40% of organizations, one in four workers is already a contractor or gig worker. Businesses of all sizes are choosing specialized, flexible expertise over traditional full-time hires, which in turn makes remote delivery easier than ever.
The generational shift is real
This isn't just about economics. It's about how an entire generation views work.
52% of Gen Z professionals and 44% of Millennials are engaged in freelance work. Younger workers don't see independent work as risky as the older generation typically do; they see rigid, location-dependent employment as the outdated model. They've grown up in a world where geography doesn't determine opportunity, and they've built careers to match. Businesses that understand this shift gain access to better talent, more flexibility, and lower costs, without being limited by a postal code.
Why remote fractional support makes financial sense
Let's talk numbers.
The true cost of hiring a full-time employee is approximately 1.3 times their base salary when you factor in benefits, payroll taxes, equipment, and overhead. Salaries for administrative and operational roles range from $45,000–$75,000+ annually, plus another 25–40% on top for hidden costs. Office space alone averages $300–$1,230 per month per employee; that's up to $14,760 annually just for a desk. Then there's recruitment costs, onboarding time, training expenses, and the very real risk of underperformance or turnover.
Remote fractional support changes the equation entirely. You pay only for the services you need. No benefits packages to manage. No payroll taxes. No office space required. No severance complications. You get immediate expertise, with no 3–6 month learning curve. Remote delivery also means geography is no longer a barrier: businesses have access to a wider range of specialized expertise, on demand, from anywhere.
So what does that have to do with me, or someone like me?
As someone who has been working in the corporate office world for over 15 years, with experience ranging from administrative, operations support, financial, HR, payroll and benefits, I realized the traditional office model wasn't the most productive environment for the work I do. So at the end of 2024, I made a change.
2025 was the year I took my own business seriously. I built my company around two divisions, one of them being Fractional Support. With the rise of contract and fractional work, the timing couldn't be better, and I genuinely enjoy helping companies achieve their goals in a way that works for both of us. My approach is simple: flexible, professional services tailored to your unique needs, whether that's a short-term project, seasonal support, or an ongoing partnership. Every business is different, which is why I offer flexible pricing packages and custom solutions across administrative coordination, operations support, financial management, vendor coordination, and documentation services.
Let's build a partnership that works for your business today and as you grow.
